Loima MP Hon. Protus Akujah has spoken out following an altercation with Turkana Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai at Lodwar Airport, revealing details of the tense exchange that unfolded in the VIP lounge.

According to Hon. Akujah, the incident occurred at around 10:50 a.m. after he had arrived at the airport earlier that morning. “I arrived at Lodwar Airport around 10:15 a.m. and sat in the VIP lounge. At approximately 10:50 a.m., Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai walked in and greeted me. He sat next to me and made some remarks, saying ‘Kimiek eboikin diyete ibore be ngigavanae akulata,’ which I did not take offense to,” he stated.

The MP said the conversation quickly escalated when the governor began speaking about individuals he claimed used to challenge his authority. “He started talking about people he used to discipline and who now take advantage of his office to challenge him,” Akujah narrated.

Akujah alleges that the governor attacked him without provocation while he was seated, prompting him to act in self-defense. “I stood up and struck him back in self-defense. His bodyguard intervened, pushing him toward the room where CS Askul and her husband were seated,” he added.

The MP said he attempted to restrain the governor but was blocked by security personnel at the door. “As I struggled, some leaders present, including Jackson Nakusa, intervened and urged me to calm down,” he recounted.

Hon. Akujah further claimed that the incident appeared to have been premeditated. “This seems to be something that was already planned and was only waiting for an opportunity,” he remarked.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the airport confrontation.
