Lodwar County Referral Hospital (LCRH) has issued a public notice urging families and next of kin with bodies currently preserved at the hospital mortuary to collect them ahead of scheduled maintenance works set to begin on August 5, 2026.
According to the hospital management, the maintenance exercise is aimed at restoring and safeguarding the mortuary’s refrigeration and storage systems as part of routine infrastructure upgrades. While the mortuary will remain operational during the maintenance period, its storage capacity will be temporarily reduced.
The hospital said the request is intended to facilitate the dignified release of bodies to families and ensure the maintenance works proceed without disruption.
LCRH further clarified that normal billing and payment procedures will remain in effect, and all outstanding charges must be settled through the Hospital Administration Office before bodies can be released.
To ensure continuity of services, the hospital advised members of the public that mortuary services will also be available at Kakuma Sub-County Hospital and Lokichar Sub-County Hospital, which will serve as alternative facilities during the maintenance period.
Hospital management said the public will be informed once the maintenance works are completed and full mortuary capacity is restored. The notice took effect immediately.
