Gulf Energy Opens Crude Oil Trucking Opportunities for Turkana, West Pokot Communities | Deadline
Gulf Energy has opened applications for individuals and Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) in Turkana and West Pokot to participate in a community crude oil trucking programme aimed at increasing local economic benefits from the transportation of Kenya’s crude oil.
The programme will support the transportation of crude oil from South Lokichar to Mombasa, with Gulf Energy saying it seeks to ensure communities along the route benefit from the emerging oil economy.
The programme provides two opportunities: eligible individuals can apply to help lead and govern the programme, while registered CBOs can participate and share in the economic benefits generated by the trucking operations.
Eligibility for individuals
Gulf Energy is inviting qualified individuals from Turkana and West Pokot to apply for positions on the Executive Committee of the Mafuta Community Organisation (MACO), which oversees the programme.
Applicants must:
1. Be a Kenyan adult from Turkana or West Pokot;
2. Hold at least a bachelor’s degree;
3. Preferably have experience in board or CBO management and administration; and
4. Be available to provide strong representation for their communities.
Women, persons with disabilities (PWDs), youth and the elderly are particularly encouraged to apply.
Applicants should submit certified copies of:
i) National Identity Card;
ii) Degree certificate;
Relevant academic and professional certificates;
i) Professional registration/membership certificates, where applicable;
ii) Current Curriculum Vitae (CV); and
iii) KRA PIN certificate.
The deadline for individual applications is Friday, September 4, 2026, at 5:00pm.
Eligibility for CBOs
Registered CBOs representing communities in Turkana or West Pokot are eligible to apply and participate in the programme.
The benefits from the trucking operations will be shared 90% to Turkana and 10% to West Pokot, with participating CBOs rotating periodically to ensure the benefits reach different groups.
CBOs should submit certified copies of:
1. CBO Registration Certificate;
2. Evidence of the area of operation — village, ward, constituency and county;
Current CBO membership list;
1. Minutes of the CBO General Meeting authorising participation;
2. CBO Constitution;
3. MOU with relevant grassroots CBO(s), where applicable; and
4. Any other supporting documentation required for verification.
The company says certification will be done by the relevant Coordinator or Sub-County Office of the Directorate of Social Protection.
The deadline for CBO applications will close on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 5:00pm.
The initiative is part of efforts to increase community participation and local economic benefits from Kenya’s crude oil industry, particularly in Turkana and West Pokot, which are directly linked to the oil transportation corridor.
