Eric Omondi visits Turkana, Kicks Off Fundraiser to Build Classroom For Children Learning Under Scorching Sun

LODWAR, Comedian-turned-activist and philanthropist Eric Omondi has started a fundraiser to construct a classroom for children in Kapoo area, Turkana County who are currently learning under a tree in a harsh climatic conditions.
In a video shared on his social media platforms on Saturday, January 2025, Omondi highlighted the struggles faced by the children in Turkana County.
Footage seen by this publication showed children sitting barefoot on the ground under the scorching sun, using their hands to write in the dirt due to a lack of basic learning materials such as books and pens.
“This is Kapoo in Turkana County… These young ones learn in this scorching sun barefoot… They are forced to walk several kilometres to access education through this volunteer teacher,” Omondi wrote.
He expressed concern over the unfair conditions the children endure, questioning how they could compete equally with other students across the country.
Omondi pledged immediate action to improve their learning environment.
“We are going to build a classroom for them tomorrow and buy them books, uniforms, and shoes,” he said.
The activist encouraged Kenyans to support his initiative by contributing to the noble cause. Donations can be sent directly to the volunteer teacher, Elizabeth Kamaret, using the provided contact number.

Omondi has been actively addressing societal challenges through his community-focused initiative, Team Sisi Kwa Sisi. This platform mobilizes resources to support Kenyans in need, providing assistance for education, shelter, clothing, and food.
