Schools Reopen For Second Term As Gov’t Releases Sh23.4 Billion Capitation Funds

Schools across the country are reopening today for the second term as thousands of learners return to class across the country, following the government’s release of capitation funds.

School heads have confirmed receipt of the funds, saying the timely disbursement has helped ease preparations despite ongoing financial challenges. Learners in pre-primary, primary, junior, and secondary schools are now reporting back for learning.

Primary school leaders say they are fully prepared for the term, noting that early funding has improved planning. At the secondary level, officials indicate that funds are already reaching schools, though in phases, as institutions gear up for one of the busiest terms in the academic calendar.

Last week, the Ministry of Education announced the release of Sh23.4 billion to public schools. Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok said the funds are meant to support learners at all levels, even as concerns remain over insufficient allocations.
