Lodwar, 6th March 2025 – The Turkana County Government has moved swiftly to clarify media reports by The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) regarding the recent arrest of an individual accused of securing employment using a fraudulent degree certificate.

According to the County Government, recent reports have incorrectly suggested that Mr. Charles Ekai Erukundi is a senior official currently serving in Turkana County. However, a statement issued by the Office of the Governor clarifies that while Mr. Erukundi was previously employed by the county, his tenure ended before his arrest and arraignment by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

“We wish to clarify that while Mr. rukundi was previously employed by the County Government, he is not currently a staff member of the Turkana County Government,” the statement reads.

The County Government reaffirmed its commitment to integrity, transparency, and accountability in its recruitment processes, stressing that it fully supports investigative agencies such as the EACC in ensuring that public office remains free from fraud and misconduct.

Upholding Ethical Public Service
The Turkana County Government has urged law enforcement agencies and media houses to verify facts before publishing reports to prevent misleading the public. The administration reiterated its dedication to an ethical and accountable public service and pledged to continue cooperating with relevant authorities to uphold these principles.

Signed by Hon. Joseph Nyang’a, the Acting County Secretary and Head of County Public Service, the statement reinforces Turkana County’s stand on integrity, ensuring that only qualified personnel serve in public office.

As the investigation unfolds, the County Government reassures the public of its unwavering stance against fraudulent activities within its ranks, promising a fair and transparent approach in all employment matters.
