Lodwar residents and businesses are set to benefit from improved water access following decisive action led by H.E. Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai.

Speaking during a high-level dialogue organized by the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), Governor Lomorukai emphasized that “water is life” and called for immediate solutions to address the ongoing water crisis.

The meeting, attended by key stakeholders, including County Commissioner Julius Kavita, brought to light critical challenges affecting water supply.

Following the discussions, Governor Lomorukai directed the Managing Director of TURWASCO to engage with the business community to identify the root causes of the crisis.

Findings revealed that the rising demand for water trucking had placed immense pressure on the public water system, leading to frequent disruptions.

Additionally, private boreholes that could supplement supply were underutilized due to non-compliance with TURWASCO regulations.

To resolve this, KNCCI, in collaboration with TURWASCO, will work with the Private Borehole and Association to fast-track compliance, allowing water trucks to source water from private boreholes.

This initiative, championed under Governor Lomorukai’s leadership, aims to reduce pressure on the public water system and ensure a stable and reliable water supply for all.

Governor Lomorukai reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustainable water solutions, stressing the need for public-private partnerships to guarantee uninterrupted access to clean water.

“Water is life, and we must work together to ensure every resident and business in Lodwar has access to this essential resource,” he stated.
