A resident of Turkana East, identified as Ja Kapedo, has raised concerns over what he describes as systematic exclusion from senior county job appointments.

According to Ja Kapedo, while other wards in Turkana East enjoy significant representation in county government positions, his ward continues to be sidelined.

Recent job distribution data he shared on his platform shows a glaring disparity in employment opportunities. While Katilia Ward has 10 senior county employees and Lokori/Kochodin Ward has 7, Kapedo/Napeitom Ward has been allocated only 2 positions.

He questioned why his people remained underrepresented despite being part of Turkana County. He lamented that the government, which was supposed to serve all its people equally, had consistently overlooked Kapedo/Napeitom.

He also pointed out that many young people from the ward had pursued education with the hope of securing county jobs, only to find doors shut in their faces.

Ja Kapedo argued that the issue was not a lack of qualifications but a case of deliberate exclusion, where opportunities were repeatedly locked away from the people of Kapedo/Napeitom.

According to him, this trend had been ongoing for years. Many had applied for positions, yet the selections always seemed to favor other wards. Frustrated by the lack of opportunities, they questioned whether there was fairness in the hiring process. Some wondered why Kapedo/Napeitom continued to be left behind while others secured multiple senior positions.

He is now demanding answers from the county leadership, insisting that employment opportunities should be distributed fairly across all wards, including his. He warned that continued silence on the matter would only deepen his frustration and resentment.

He called on the county government to address the issue urgently, stressing that his people are part of Turkana County and deserve equal opportunities like everyone else.

“We cannot remain silent while our people are continuously left out. It is time for fairness, transparency, and equal representation in county employment,” he stated.
