Hon. Christopher Doye Nakuleu, the former Speaker of the Turkana County Assembly, has finally bowed out. Not because he failed, not because he was incompetent, but because of sustained political pressure, backroom maneuvering, and a well-orchestrated impeachment push by the very leadership that claims to champion democracy and good governance. Let’s call it what it is—constructive dismissal! A leader forced out, not for incompetence, but because he refused to dance to the tunes of political puppeteers.

Now that he’s gone, the burning question remains: WHAT NEXT?

For months, MCAs have been whining, pointing fingers at Nakuleu, using his leadership as the scapegoat for their failures. They claimed he was the reason they couldn’t properly oversight the county government. Now that he has stepped aside, where will they hide? Will they finally stand up and deliver, or will they simply find another excuse to justify their silence, inaction, and cowardice?

A HOUSE CAPTURED BY EXECUTIVE CONTROL?
Let’s not pretend—the Turkana County Assembly has long been reduced to a rubber stamp for the executive. Instead of standing firm and keeping the county government in check, most MCAs have been comfortable taking orders from above. They are more interested in personal deals, tenders, and political survival than in fighting for the people who elected them.

Hon. Nakuleu was a stumbling block to this culture of impunity. He refused to be a puppet. That’s why he was pushed out. Now, without him, the real test begins:

1. Will the MCAs finally fight for the people? Will they hold the county government accountable, or will they go back to their usual games—taking allowances, attending workshops, and looking for ways to enrich themselves?

2. Will they remain independent? Or will they be completely swallowed by the executive, becoming nothing more than a choir singing praises for the governor and county officials?

NO MORE EXCUSES – THE PEOPLE ARE WATCHING!
The people of Turkana must wake up. We have been played for too long! The very leaders we trusted to fight for us have become part of the problem. They have mastered the art of deception—blaming everyone but themselves for their failures.

Now that Nakuleu is out, they have no more excuses. They must prove their worth. If they fail, then they too must be sent home!

Let this be a wake-up call. Leadership is about courage, not cowardice. Turkana deserves better! And for those who think they can continue playing games—MAMBO BADO!
