On December 25, 2024, the Turkana County Government advertised the position of Security Warden. Reports reaching our desk indicate that 337 candidates were shortlisted for the position.

The initial communication directed them to take their interviews at Lodwar Vocational Training Center (Loyopo). However, the venue was later changed to Ekalees Center, with the interview scheduled for Friday, February 21, 2025.

In preparation for the interview, many candidates researched potential questions, read articles, and studied relevant books to enhance their knowledge.

However, upon arrival at the venue, they were shocked to find that the interview was not a verbal assessment but instead a physical endurance test. All candidates were unexpectedly subjected to a demanding 5km run—an exercise that had not been mentioned in the job advertisement.

This sudden turn of events left many shortlisted candidates unable to participate in the selection process. Some were physically unfit, others were pregnant or unwell, while others arrived without appropriate running gear, raising serious concerns about the fairness of the process.

Many questioned why such a strenuous physical test was introduced when the advertisement had not clearly stated that physical fitness would be a key requirement for the selection process
