Lomorukai: “We’ve No Option as the County but to Support Ruto’s Re-election”

Turkana Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai has said the county is obliged to back President William Ruto’s re-election bid, citing what he described as the President’s goodwill toward the region.

Speaking on Wednesday at Moi Gardens in Lodwar during the international celebration of persons living with disabilities, the governor said Turkana must stand with the Head of State because his administration has elevated several leaders from the county to national positions.

He argued that it is “time to pay back” President Ruto’s generosity, noting that the President appointed sons and daughters of Turkana to senior roles, including a cabinet position, the chairperson of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), five ambassadors, and various directorates.

Lomorukai added that continued partnership with the national government is key to sustaining development programmes and ensuring that the county’s priorities remain on track.

His remarks come as political positioning intensifies across the country ahead of the next general election.
