Ford-Kenya candidate James Lopuya Losikiria has officially withdrawn his candidature from the upcoming Lakezone CWA by-election, citing unavoidable circumstances that will keep him out of the political race until 2027.
In a formal letter addressed to the Returning Officer for Turkana North and copied to the County Elections Manager (CEM) Turkana County, and seen by this publication, Losikiria expressed his regret over the decision, apologizing for any inconvenience caused by his withdrawal.
“I hereby tender my withdrawal to be registered as Ford-Kenya candidate by IEBC for the upcoming Lakezone by-election to be held on 27th November 2025 due to unavoidable circumstances till 2027,” the statement read in part.
He further assured his supporters that he remains committed to serving the people of Turkana North and will be vying for the 2027 general election under the Ford-Kenya party.
Losikiria’s exit from the race is expected to slightly reshape the political dynamics within the Lakezone ward ahead of the November 27 by-election, which has attracted several aspirants keen to fill the vacant seat.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has yet to issue a formal acknowledgment of the withdrawal, though the move marks a notable shift within Ford-Kenya’s local political strategy.
