After more than a decade of waiting, former Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer Christopher Losuru has finally won his battle for justice.

Losuru, who was recruited into the KDF in 2010 as a General Service Officer Cadet, successfully completed training at the Kenya Military Academy, earned his Presidential Commission in 2012, and was later posted to the Kenya Air Force. His future seemed bright.

In 2013, he received a scholarship to train as a pilot at the South African Flight Training Academy. But in April 2014, a routine Sunday morning briefing turned into the turning point of his life. When the Academy’s Director entered the noisy preparation room and no student immediately responded, Losuru stood up to apologize on behalf of his peers. Instead of diffusing the situation, he was unfairly singled out for punishment.

Shortly after, Losuru was recalled to Kenya. Without a hearing, explanation, or any disciplinary process, he was dismissed from the Air Force, abruptly ending his promising career.

Determined to fight back, Losuru filed case number ELRCPET/E001/2023: Christopher Losuru vs The Attorney General and the PS–Ministry of Defence. Represented by NABENYO & COMPANY ADVOCATES, he pursued justice for nearly three years.

This week, the Employment and Labour Relations Court (ELRC) in Kitale delivered a landmark ruling, declaring his termination unjust, discriminatory, and procedurally flawed. The court awarded him compensation, restoring his dignity after years of struggle.

His legal team hailed the judgment as a powerful reminder that justice, though delayed, is never denied.

“This decision not only restores Christopher’s dignity as a person but also sends a message that the ever-swinging sword of justice will eventually catch up with the powerful as it does with the powerless, however long it takes,” NABENYO & COMPANY ADVOCATES said in a statement.

For Losuru, the ruling is more than compensation—it is vindication after years of pain, and a chance to finally close a dark chapter in his life.
