ODM Party leader Raila Odinga has called on Kenyans to give the broad-based government led by President William Ruto and himself the space to deliver, urging the public to judge their performance at the ballot in 2027.
Speaking during the burial of the late Hon. Phoebe Asiyo at her Kanyaluo home in Karachuonyo Constituency, Homa Bay County, Odinga responded to growing political criticism of the unity government, saying the people, not politicians, will ultimately decide the country’s direction.
“Give us space and room, and judge us in 2027. If you are saying wantam, so what? It’s Kenyans who will decide the term, and we will see where we want to go,” Odinga said.
He emphasized confidence in the government’s reform agenda, adding that when the time comes, they will explain to Kenyans what has been done and where they intend to take the country.
“We will face Kenyans squarely and tell them this is why we did a, b, c, d, and this is where we want to go. You’ll say yours and we will say ours. Then we will see who Kenyans will believe,” he added.
Odinga’s remarks come amid heightened debate over the Ruto-Odinga partnership and its implications for Kenya’s political future, especially ahead of the 2027 General Election.
