Turkana South Member of Parliament, Hon. Ariko Namoit, has criticized Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai, accusing him of intimidating young people in Turkana County who question his leadership.
In a statement, MP Namoit alleged that youths who express criticism against the county administration are being harassed, assaulted, or pressured to withdraw their views.
“Hon. Jeremiah, it’s sad to see you turn your anger and desperation to the young people in Turkana County. Lately we note that, youth criticizing your leadership are being maimed and beaten when they point out your areas of failure or in some cases coerced to change their opinions in your favour. ” he stated.
He described the incidents as “an unfortunate attempt to silence dissent” and warned that such actions could undermine peace and stability in the county.
“True leadership should be about offering solutions, not suppressing voices. Using fear and intimidation against the youth only weakens trust between leaders and the people,” the legislator said.
Namoit further claimed that the governor’s leadership style risks damaging his political legacy. He expressed concern that continued hostility towards critics may erode public confidence and shape perceptions of Lomorukai’s tenure as one defined by mistrust.
Governor Lomorukai has not yet responded to the allegations.
