A chilling wave of murders has thrown Kakamega town and its outskirts into a state of fear and uncertainty, as police intensify a manhunt for a suspected serial killer believed to be behind a series of ritual-like killings targeting night guards.

In just over a month, seven night watchmen have been brutally murdered in eerily similar circumstances. Each attack is marked by a gruesome pattern: a fatal blow to the head followed by the disturbing removal of the victim’s tongue. Yet, in a twist that has baffled investigators and terrified residents, nothing is ever stolen—neither from the victims nor from the premises they were hired to guard.

The mysterious killings have taken place within a 15-kilometre radius of Kakamega town, sending shockwaves throughout the region. Traders, fearing for their safety, have begun closing their shops as early as 8:00 p.m., while security guards operate under intense anxiety, feeling like marked targets.

According to sources close to the investigation, the victims appear to have been selected and attacked with chilling precision. The ritualistic nature of the crimes has sparked speculation about possible cult activity or politically motivated violence, though police have yet to confirm any such links.

Local leaders have called for increased patrols, better street lighting, and the installation of security cameras in vulnerable areas, especially where guards are stationed. Residents are being urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to authorities.

As the manhunt continues, Kakamega remains on edge. The serial killer’s identity and motive remain unknown, but one thing is clear—the community won’t sleep easy until justice is served.
