Embattled OCS Talaam Breaks Silence, Says He Handed Over Duty to His Deputy, Ng’ang’a

FRESH DETAILS EMERGE:
Embattled OCS Samson Talaam has broken his silence on what transpired on the night Albert Ojwang was murdered.
According to his lawyer, Danstan Omari, Talaam was not arrested as reported by some sections of the media. Instead, he voluntarily presented himself to the police after being adversely mentioned as the prime suspect in the case.
In a statement recorded with the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), Talaam claimed he was not present at the station on the night Ojwang was killed.
He stated that he was at Kabunde Pub, near Wilson Airport, accompanied by a woman identified as Mercy, who allegedly works with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA). According to Talaam, Mercy has been his longtime partner. On that particular day, he left the station at 8:00 p.m. and headed to Wilson in her company.
At around 9:30 p.m., Talaam says he received a call from someone identifying himself as Sigei, informing him that a suspect had been brought in. Talaam responded that he had left the station under the supervision of his deputy, Ng’ang’a.
Later that night, shortly after 1:00 a.m., Deputy OCS Ng’ang’a reportedly called Talaam again, saying that things had “gone haywire.” Talaam claims that is when he left the pub, dropped off Mercy, and proceeded to the station.
He maintains that CCTV footage from Kabunde Pub will support and verify his alibi.
