The much-anticipated meeting between a delegation of Turkana leaders and President William Ruto has been rescheduled once again, the Executive Office of the President has confirmed.
Initially set for August 4, the meeting was first postponed to August 14 before being pushed further to 2nd September 2025 at 8:00 AM due to unforeseen circumstances. The session will be held at State House, Nairobi.
According to reports, members of the delegation; who had arrived in Nairobi as early as August 2 for the meeting; now find themselves in a state of uncertainty, as their extended stay and hopes of visiting the House on the Hill fade with each passing day.
In a document seen by Turkana County News Online, the delegation is expected to include senior political leaders, professionals, and representatives from Turkana County. According to sources, the agenda will focus on critical strategic issues affecting the county, including infrastructure development, water access, education, economic growth, and security concerns.
Government officials have expressed confidence that the meeting will yield constructive outcomes, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to inclusive development and regional engagement.
Turkana County, one of Kenya’s most resource-rich yet economically challenged regions, has been the focus of ongoing discussions around oil exploration, cross-border security, and drought mitigation. Stakeholders hope the September meeting will unlock new policy directions and funding for priority projects.
Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix K. Koskei, in a formal communication to the leaders, expressed appreciation for their understanding over the postponements and assured them of the President’s readiness to address their concerns.
As the new date approaches, Turkana residents and leaders alike are watching closely, anticipating tangible commitments that could shape the county’s development trajectory in the coming years.
