KUCCPS Reopens Applications for 26 Certificate and Diploma Courses at KMTC

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has reopened applications for 26 courses at the Kenya Medical Training Colleges (KMTC).

In a statement on Friday, April 18, KUCCPS announced that these programs still have limited vacancies following the recent placement of students.

“Good news to applicants seeking KMTC courses. Following the recent placement of students to KMTC, 26 programs still have limited vacancies,” KUCCPS stated.

The programs, their minimum requirements, and available KMTC campuses are listed on the KUCCPS Student Portal (http://students.kuccps.net).

Students interested in these courses are advised to log into the KUCCPS portal to apply. The deadline for applications is April 30, 2025.

The certificate courses offered include:

Certificate in Community Health Assistant

This course requires a minimum mean grade of C- in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), with at least D+ in English or Kiswahili, D+ in Biology, and D in Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
Certificate in Medical Emergency Technician
Applicants must have a C- mean grade in KCSE, with at least a D in Biology. This program is available at various KMTC campuses, including Bomet, Bungoma, Eldoret, and Kisumu.

Certificate in Medical Engineering

Open to students with a D+ mean grade, this program requires at least D+ in English or Kiswahili, D+ in Mathematics, and D in either Biology, Physics, or Chemistry. The course is offered at Bomet, Eldoret, Kisumu, and Nairobi.

Certificate in Nutrition and Dietetics

This program requires a D+ mean grade in KCSE AND at least D+ in English or Kiswahili, D in Biology, and D in Chemistry and either D in Physics, or mathematics. It is available at campuses in Chwele, Homa Bay, Karen-Nairobi, and Thika.

Certificate in Orthopaedic Trauma Medicine

Applicants need a C- mean grade to apply for this course. Specific subject requirements include C- in English or Kiswahili, C- in Biology, and at least D+ in either Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics. This course is available at campuses in Bungoma, Busia, Garissa, Kakamega, and Nyahururu.

Certificate in Public Health

A C- mean grade is required to qualify for this course. Specific subject requirements include C in English or Kiswahili, C in Biology or Biological Sciences, C- in Mathematics, and C- in either Physics, Chemistry, or Physical Sciences. It is offered at Embu, Kakamega, Nakuru, and Taveta campuses.
Certificate in Health Records and Information Technology
Applicants must have a C- mean grade, with a D+ in English or Kiswahili, D in Biology, and D in either Mathematics, Chemistry, or Physics. This program is available at Bondo, Chwele, Nairobi, and Murang’a campuses.

KMTC Diploma Courses Available for Application

Diploma in Community Health:
Applicants must have a minimum grade of C in KCSE, C- in English or Kiswahili, D+ in Biology, and D in Mathematics, Chemistry, or Physics.

Diploma in Emergency Medical Technology:

A C in KCSE and D+ in Biology are the key entry requirements.

Diploma in Health Counselling:

To be eligible, students need C in KCSE, C in English or Kiswahili, D+ in Biology, and D+ in CRE or IRE.

Diploma in Health Insurance Management:

The minimum KCSE grade required is C, along with C in English or Kiswahili, D+ in Biology, D+ in Mathematics, and D+ in Chemistry or Physics.

Diploma in Health Promotion:

Entry requirements for this program have not been specified.

Diploma in Health Records and Information Technology:

Applicants must meet the following criteria: C in KCSE, C in English or Kiswahili, C- in Mathematics, D+ in Biology, and C- in either Physics or Chemistry.

Diploma in Medical Engineering:

Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences:

Applicants should have C in KCSE, C in English or Kiswahili, C- in Mathematics, C- in Physics, and D+ in either Biology or Chemistry.

Diploma in Medical Social Work:

The program requires C in KCSE, C in English or Kiswahili, D+ in Biology, and C- in Mathematics, Chemistry, or Physics.

Diploma in Mortuary Science:

Applicants must have a C in KCSE, C in English or Kiswahili, C in Biology, C- in Chemistry or Physical Science, and C- in either Mathematics or Physics.

Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics:
The minimum qualifications are C- in KCSE, D+ in English or Kiswahili, D+ in Biology, D+ in Chemistry, and D in Mathematics or Physics.
