CONTROVERSIES: Prophet Owuor Allegedly Sent KSh 20k to Each TV47 Crew To Stop HIV ‘Fake Healing’ Documentary Amid Legal Tussle
TV47 Faces Legal Threats from Prophet Owuor Over Explosive HIV ‘Fake Healing’ Documentary

TV47 is facing legal threats from Prophet David Owuor’s Ministry of Repentance and Holiness following the airing of an explosive documentary that questions alleged HIV/AIDS “miracle healings” linked to the ministry.
In the detailed exposé, the station reported that some followers of the prophet allegedly presented forged medical documents from various hospitals. The documents were reportedly altered to indicate that individuals who had previously tested HIV-positive later tested negative after claiming to have been healed during prayer services.
According to TV47, members of Prophet Owuor’s legal team visited the station’s headquarters on Thursday in an attempt to block the documentary from airing. The media house, however, declined to halt the broadcast and proceeded to air the programme as scheduled on Sunday night.
The documentary featured testimonies and medical records that raised serious concerns about the authenticity of the alleged healings. Medical experts interviewed in the programme warned that misleading claims about HIV cures could endanger lives, particularly among vulnerable patients who may abandon treatment.
Amid the escalating dispute, reports emerged alleging that Prophet Owuor sent KSh 20,000 to each TV47 crew member involved in the investigation, with claims the money was “from the Lord.” The media crew reportedly reversed the payments.

Following the exposé, supporters of the prophet took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), launching hashtags in defense of their leader as debate over the documentary intensified online.
