Turkana County Assembly Speaker Chris Nakuleu Clarifies Absence from House Proceedings On Wednesday

Lodwar, February 12, 2025 – The Speaker of the Turkana County Assembly, Hon. Chris Nakuleu, has addressed concerns regarding his absence from Wednesday’s House proceedings.

In a statement seen by this publication, Hon. Nakuleu explained that the Turkana County Assembly operates on a duty roster, where the Speaker’s panel alternates in presiding over sessions, himself included.

“For the record, I chaired the session yesterday when the House resumed and committed several businesses to be undertaken during this fourth session,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the County Assembly approved the appointment of members to two key committees during Wednesday’s sitting.

Appointments to the Procedure and Rules Committee

The following members were appointed to the County Assembly House, Procedure, and Rules Committee:

1. Hon. Michael Ewoi
2. Hon. Bethwel Kobongin
3. Hon. Lynet Abok
4. Hon. Dorcas Epusiye
5. Hon. Lydia Ejore
6. Hon. Amina Loitanit
7. Hon. Dedan Kalimapus
8. Hon. Alphonse Loteder

Appointments to the Members Services and Facilities Committee

Pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order 212A, the House also approved the appointment of the following members to the Members Services and Facilities Committee:

1. Hon. David Ekod
2. Hon. Christopher Kobia Gacibi
3. Hon. Amina Loitanit
4. Hon. Willy Napuyo
5. Hon. Hellen Kaile
6. Hon. Mark Akeru
7. Hon. Esther Mana
8. Hon. Sarah Abdi
9. Hon. Samwel Lomodo

These appointments are expected to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the County Assembly in discharging its legislative and administrative duties.
