Showering After Unprotected Sex Does Not Prevent STI or HIV – Aidah Munzatsi Warns

Multi-award-winning health journalist and content creator Aidah Munzatsi, who has built a following of over 724,000 people, has cautioned the public against a dangerous misconception.
According to Aidah, many people wrongly believe that taking a shower immediately after unprotected sex can prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or HIV.
“This is just hygiene, not protection,” she explained. “The only proven way to protect yourself from HIV and other STIs during sexual activity is by using a condom.”
Through her platforms, where she simplifies complex health topics into engaging and easy-to-understand content, Aidah continues to emphasize the importance of accurate sexual health knowledge.
She reminded her followers that while personal hygiene is important, it cannot replace safe practices such as consistent condom use.
“Always consult a healthcare provider for medical advice,” she concluded, encouraging young people and couples to prioritize both protection and open conversations around sexual health.
