President Ruto Pledges Ksh900 Million for Lodwar Stadium at Tobongu’lore Festival

President William Ruto has announced plans to construct a modern stadium in Lodwar, Turkana County, with the government allocating Ksh900 million for the project.
Speaking during the annual Turkana Cultural Festival, dubbed Tobongu’lore, the President said he had directed the contractor currently building the Talanta Stadium in Nairobi to move to Lodwar once the project is completed.
“Nimeambia wanaojenga stadium ya Talanta kwamba wakimaliza kujenga Talanta, wakuje wajenge stadium hapa Lodwar na nimewapatia Ksh. 900 million ili waijenge,” President Ruto said.
He noted that the project is part of the government’s broader agenda to decentralize sports infrastructure and promote talent development among youth in all regions of the country.
The proposed Lodwar stadium is expected to create jobs during construction, boost local sports development, and enable Turkana County to host regional and national sporting events.
Tobongu’lore is an annual cultural festival that celebrates Turkana culture, unity, and development, providing a platform for leaders to outline key development commitments to the community.
