A fierce storm has erupted in ODM’s Turkana branch after constituency leaders sensationally claimed that the delegates list for the county elections has been doctored in a scheme to edge out legitimate officials.

A section of ODM leaders from Turkana County have lodged a formal complaint with the party’s National Elections Coordinating Committee, citing irregularities in the delegates list for the upcoming county elections.

In a fiery petition to Commissioner Emily Awita of the ODM National Elections Coordinating Committee, the leaders allege massive fraud, accusing the Turkana County Elections Board and the Elections Coordinator of orchestrating a conspiracy to “sabotage democracy” within the party, locking out duly elected officials and replacing them with unfamiliar names.

Explosive Allegations
The petitioners charge that:
1. Turkana South: All duly elected delegates from Turkana South are missing from the list, despite having paid and participated in a legitimate election process. Only four individuals appear, raising serious questions about what happened to the rest of the duly elected delegates.

2. Turkana Central: The original list has been tampered with, and several new names have been added who were not part of the initial, verified delegate list.

3. Turkana North:The entire list for Turkana North appears to have been replaced, with new, unfamiliar names included without any transparent process.

4. Turkana West, East and Loima: These regions have also been affected by similar alterations, casting further doubt on the credibility of the entire list.

“Who altered the list? For what purpose? We will not allow the will of the people to be stolen through backroom deals,” the leaders thundered in their statement

Leaders Demand Action
The furious ODM officials are now demanding:

  • Immediate intervention by the National Elections Board.
  • Accountability for the Turkana County Elections Board and the County Elections Coordinator.
  • Nullification/ Postponement of the ongoing Turkana County elections process until a full verification and rectification of the delegates list is completed.

They warn that unless the national office intervenes, the credibility of ODM’s grassroots elections in Turkana will be “completely destroyed.”

“We have lost confidence in the current Turkana County Elections Board, and therefore demand for their disbandment and appointment of a new County Elections Team to oversee the elections in order to restore transparency” statement read.

The Faces Behind the Revolt
The petition carries signatures of top ODM constituency heads including:

1. Dr. Malcom Lochodo Charles (Turkana South)
2. Abraham Losinyen Ekai (Turkana Central)
3. Hon. Ali Lokiru (Turkana East)
4. Paul Motoga (Loima)
5. Davis Nangiro (ODM Youth League)
6. Titus Lokeris (Turkana North)
7. Raphael Kerio Ewoi (Turkana West)
8. Hon. David Erukudi (Turkana South)

What Next for ODM?
With simmering tensions running high, eyes are now on ODM’s National Elections Board to salvage the credibility of the polls. The petitioners insist that unless swift action is taken, Turkana’s ODM elections risk degenerating into chaos and eroding confidence in the party’s leadership.
