Turkana Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai is currently on a tour across Turkana West Sub-County, which he has branded as a “development tour.” However, concerns are mounting over the true intent of the visit, with critics suggesting it may be politically motivated.
Despite several public stopovers and engagements with local residents, there has been little evidence of new project launches or tangible development initiatives. This has led to growing speculation that the tour may be less about service delivery and more about building early political momentum ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Governor Lomorukai is currently serving his first term in office and is eyeing for re-election. political pundits believe the tour may be a strategic move to consolidate support in the vote-rich region, particularly as political temperatures begin to rise across the county.
“We’ve seen speeches and promises, but no real project launches. It’s beginning to look like a soft campaign,” A political pundit said.
The Governor’s team, however, maintains that the tour is purely developmental, aimed at assessing ongoing projects and identifying priority areas for county investment.
Political watchers say such moves are common as incumbents seek to strengthen their grassroots presence well ahead of the official campaign period.
Whether Governor Lomorukai is laying the foundation for a second-term bid or genuinely focused on development, his Turkana West engagements have already stirred debate — and the spotlight is firmly on what follows.
