“MCAs hawataki mchezo kwa kazi,” In Kericho County, Agriculture CECM Magerer Langat resigned just hours before he was scheduled to appear before a County Assembly select committee investigating his impeachment.
His resignation comes amid heightened political tension, with Kericho MCAs accusing several of Governor Erick Mutai’s executives of abuse of office and mismanagement.
Already, five other CECMs — in Finance and Economic Planning, Roads and Public Works, Environment and Water, Health, and Trade — have been lined up for impeachment.
Governor Mutai has criticized the assembly’s move, warning that the removal of six executives would paralyze service delivery in the county.
Meanwhile, in Turkana County, MCAs have also trained their sights on embattled Water CECM Willyjustus Akwalata, with impeachment calls gaining momentum over allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
