Lodwar, March 11, 2025 – Residents of Turkana County will experience a temporary water supply disruption as the Turkana County Urban Water and Sewerage Company PLC (TUWASCO) undertakes urgent infrastructure improvements. The company has announced the temporary shutdown of the Napuu Aquifer BH6 water supply, effective today, to facilitate the drilling of a new borehole.

According to TUWASCO, the shutdown has been necessitated by the collapse of Borehole No. 6, a critical water source for the affected regions. The planned drilling project aims to ensure a more reliable and sustainable water supply for the residents.

Affected Areas
The areas set to experience the water supply disruption include Lokitela A, Narewa, Naperobei, Namarile, and the surrounding regions near Turkana University and Kasarani.

Efforts to Restore Supply
TUWASCO has assured residents that all efforts are being made to complete the drilling process and restore normal water services as soon as possible. The company estimates that the restoration process will be completed within a week.

In a statement, TUWASCO management apologized for the inconvenience caused and urged residents to be patient as the improvements are carried out.

“We understand the challenges this may pose to our customers, and we appreciate their patience as we work to restore and enhance the water supply system,” TUWASCO stated.

Residents are advised to use available water resources sparingly during the interruption period and seek alternative water supply options where possible.

For further updates, TUWASCO encourages residents to visit their website www.turkanaurbanwater.co.ke or contact them via email at info@turkanaurbanwater.co.ke.
