Turkana MCAs Defend Governor Lomorukai Amid Incitement Allegations from Pokot Counterparts

Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) from Turkana have staunchly defended Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai against accusations leveled by their Pokot counterparts, who claim he is stoking ethnic tensions by inciting the Turkana community against the Pokot people.
Pokot MCAs alleged the governor’s actions were worsening border clashes over grazing and water, but Turkana leaders called the claims politically motivated.
Speaking on Wednesday, Lokichar MCA Samuel Lomodo clarified the governor’s recent visit to Kaputir, Kalemgorok, and Kainuk was focused on offering condolences and support rather than provocation.
“Governor Lomorukai visited the area to condole with the grieved families who have suffered losses in these unfortunate incidents,” Lomodo stated
Lomodo went further, calling for accountability on the other side by demanding the immediate arrest of three Lotee, Phokosing, and Jane whom he accused of contributing to the unrest in the Turkana-Pokot border.
The governor’s office has yet to issue an official response to the Pokot accusations, but sources close to Lomorukai described the visit as a routine gesture of solidarity in line with his mandate to promote peace and development in the county.
