Petition Filed at High Court Seeking KSh 100 Million Compensation for Family of Daystar University Student Karen Lojore Who Died at Asake’s Nairobi Concert

A petition has been filed at the High Court seeking KSh 10 million in compensation for the family of Karen Lojore, a 20-year-old Daystar University student who died during Nigerian singer Asake’s concert in Nairobi.
The petition, filed in the public interest and on behalf of affected concertgoers, lists Tukutane Entertainment Kenya Limited, the lead event organiser, as the principal respondent. Other respondents named include the Nairobi City County Government, the National Police Service (NPS), Sports Kenya, and the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK).
The petitioners accuse the organisers of gross negligence, citing serious failures in crowd control, safety planning, and emergency response during the event.
Nairobi City County has been faulted for issuing an event licence without confirming compliance with mandatory safety and medical requirements. Sports Kenya is accused of permitting the use of Nyayo National Stadium without adequately verifying whether safety standards had been met. Meanwhile, the National Police Service is blamed for failing to deploy sufficient officers to effectively manage the massive crowd.
The petition argues that these failures directly contributed to the tragic death of Karen Lojore and exposed thousands of concertgoers to serious risk.
