MIXED REACTIONS AS TURKANA COUNTY COMMISSIONER TRANSFERRED TO MURANG’A

The transfer of Turkana County Commissioner Mr. Julius Kavita to Murang’a County, and the appointment of Mr. Hassan Ali Bule as his successor, has sparked mixed reactions across the county. While some residents and leaders praised Kavita as a dedicated administrator who worked tirelessly to address insecurity and foster collaboration between national and county governments, others offered a more critical assessment of his tenure.
Critics particularly from the opposition welcomed his transfer with open delight, accusing him of being too close to the county leadership. Some went as far as labeling him the “commander of goons,” alleging he turned a blind eye to rising cases of politically motivated violence and intimidation.
Since his posting to Turkana, Kavita consistently worked alongside the county government under Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai, a move his supporters say enhanced coordination and service delivery, but one his opponents argue compromised his impartiality as a state officer.
As Mr. Bule takes over the office, Turkana residents will be watching closely to see whether the new commissioner will build on Kavita’s legacy of cooperation or take a different path to restore confidence among those who felt sidelined.
