Mandera County Woman Representative Ummu Kassim has challenged former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to produce evidence supporting his alleged claims that President William Ruto met with an Al-Shabaab leader.

Speaking in Lodwar, Turkana County, on Monday, August 11, 2025, during the Inua Mama and Wezesha Jamii initiatives, Ummu dismissed the allegations as dangerous and unfounded, urging leaders to avoid making statements that could jeopardize national security.

“If Gachagua has evidence that the President met with an Al-Shabaab leader, let him table it before the authorities. Such claims cannot be thrown around casually,” she said.

The legislator further emphasized the importance of unity in the fight against terrorism, warning that reckless political statements risked emboldening extremist groups and undermining Kenya’s counter-terrorism efforts.
