Kapedo Standoff: Leaders Challenge Gazette Notice on New Sub-County HQs in Court

MP Tiaty, William Kamket, and MP Pokot South, David Pkosing, along with all Tiaty MCAs and local residents, gathered at the Kabarnet High Court this morning to protest the gazettement of Kapedo and Mukutani as the headquarters of Suguta and Ilchamus sub-counties, respectively.

Through their advocate, Bernard Kipkoech, the leaders petitioned the court to issue a conservatory order, arguing that the government’s decision to establish new sub-counties and designate headquarters on contested land threatens the fragile peace in the North Rift region.

Presiding over the hearing, Judge Rachael Ng’etich scheduled the ruling for March 20, 2025.
