LODWAR,Benedict Ekeru has been appointed as the new acting Managing Director of Turkana Urban Water and Sewarage Company (TUWASCO), formerly known as LOWASCO.
His appointment, on an interim basis, was announced by the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Water Services, Patrick Losike Lokaimoe.
Mr. Ekeru takes over from Esther Lokitoe, who also had been serving in an acting capacity for the last one year.
Speaking during the handover ceremony at the county water headquarters, CECM Lokaimoe commended Lokitoe for her leadership, highlighting her role in stabilizing the company’s operations.
“The outgoing MD will be remembered for overseeing TUWASCO’s transition to a fully government-owned entity. She also played a key role in the formation of a five-member Board of Directors, ensuring stability for the company. We appreciate her contributions and congratulate her for the achievements,” said Lokaimoe.
He further urged the new Managing Director to fast-track the company’s compliance with the Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB) requirements to secure an operational license.
