Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has announced that the government is set to roll out a new electricity distribution plan aimed at tackling the growing problem of illegal power connections in densely populated areas.

Speaking during a Spice FM breakfast show, CS Wandayi revealed that the plan will introduce a bulk metering and billing system—a model where a single individual or entity (such as a landlord) purchases electricity directly from Kenya Power (KPLC) and redistributes it to tenants or consumers within a designated premise.

He explained that the move is intended to streamline electricity access in locations where enforcing direct KPLC connections has been problematic.
