Turkana County Government Re-Advertises Key Job Vacancies

The Turkana County Public Service Board has announced the re-advertisement of multiple job openings, ranging from senior administrative and medical specialist roles to technical instructors and emergency technicians, as part of its ongoing efforts to bolster public service delivery in the region. The vacancies, detailed in a document released on April 9, 2025, offer opportunities across various sectors, with positions available on both contract and permanent terms.
Among the highlighted roles is the Director – Social Protection (Job Group ‘R’), a single post requiring a candidate with at least a relevant first degree in social sciences and seven years of experience, including three in a senior managerial role. Responsibilities include coordinating community-based social protection services, promoting gender and disability inclusion, and advising on socio-economic development policies in the county. A Master’s degree and prior management training are considered advantages.
Another key position is the Director – Administration Services (Job Group ‘R’), tasked with overseeing administrative functions, implementing public service reforms, and ensuring compliance with national governance principles. Candidates must have served as a Deputy Director of Administration or equivalent for at least three years and hold a Bachelor’s degree in fields such as Public Administration or Business Management.
Medical professionals are also in demand, with openings for Medical Specialists in Orthopedics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Radiology, General Physician, and Oncology (all Job Group ‘R’). These roles require a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (M.B.Ch.B), a relevant Master’s degree, and a minimum of three years as a Senior Medical Specialist I. Duties include advanced patient management, training health personnel, and conducting health research.
For technical education, the county seeks Youth Polytechnic Instructors III (Job Group ‘H’ ) in Carpentry and Joinery, Welding and Fabrication, and Fashion Design and Garment Making, with two posts available for each. Applicants need a diploma in the respective field, a computer application certificate, and registration with the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA). These permanent positions involve both theoretical and practical training for trainees.
The re-advertisement also includes roles like Photojournalist (Job Group ‘J’), requiring a Bachelor’s degree in Photojournalism and 3-5 years of experience, and **Emergency Medical Technician – Advanced III (Job Group ‘H’)**, needing a diploma in Emergency Medical Services and a valid practicing license.
