Turkana County Assembly Website Fails to Display 2025 Hansard Records

Share This:

The Turkana County Assembly’s official website currently shows “No records found for 2025” in its Hansard archive, raising concerns about transparency and accessibility of public parliamentary records.

According to the website, the Hansard section is meant to provide “the formal and authoritative record of everything spoken during sessions of the County Assembly… faithfully documenting the speeches, questions, answers, and deliberations of all members.”

However, when selecting the year 2025 from the list of available years, the page yields no plenary dates, times or documents leaving an entire year’s record unavailable to the public.

Observers say the absence of these records may hinder public scrutiny, accountability and civic engagement. Stakeholders note that access to proceedings is crucial for residents to follow the performance and decisions of their elected representatives.

The Assembly web-team and authorities have yet to issue a public explanation or timeframe for when the missing 2025 Hansard records will be uploaded or made available.
