President William Ruto’s administration promises significant benefits for the people of Turkana, thanks to his deep understanding of the region’s unique needs. Unlike his predecessors, Ruto has extensively toured nearly every corner of Turkana, giving him firsthand knowledge of the challenges and opportunities that define the county.

Already, his government has created numerous plum job opportunities for the people of Turkana, including a cabinet position and several ambassadorial appointments. These moves reflect his commitment to ensuring that the community has a voice at the national level.

Equally transformative is Ruto’s proposal to introduce a ferry service across Lake Turkana, linking the county with Marsabit. This project is expected to revolutionize trade between the two counties, which have long been separated by the lake, and will serve as a powerful driver of economic growth.

On the tourism front, Ruto’s recent remarks in Maasai Mara; where he promised to showcase Turkana as the cradle of mankind, signal a new era for the region’s global visibility. The upcoming Tembea Turkana campaign, that will soon be launched by Governor Lomorukai with the President’s backing, is set to position the county as a premier tourist destination.

Finally, the ongoing and planned infrastructure projects, including key road networks linking Turkana with neighboring border counties and the long-awaited connection to the national grid, will not only be true game changers but also impactful for the region’s development.

With these initiatives, it is evident that Ruto has secured the trust, and likely BAGGED the 400,000-plus votes of the Turkana people.
