The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced temporary job vacancies to support the upcoming by-election exercises.
The commission is inviting applications for the positions of voter registration clerks and by-election poll officials.
According to IEBC, the recruitment targets by-election teams and Huduma Centre voter registration staff, and aims to enhance efficiency, transparency, and citizen participation in Kenya’s electoral processes.
IEBC noted that voter registration clerks will be deployed to 57 Huduma Centres across the country. By-election poll officials will work in respective electoral units, including Magarini, Banissa, Mbeere North, and Malava constituencies.

Interested candidates are required to submit their applications exclusively through the IEBC iRecruitment Portal at jobs.iebc.or.ke.
Applicants must log in or create an account, complete the online form, and upload necessary documents including identification, academic certificates, and an updated CV.

1. Voter registration clerks
Role: The voter registration clerks will operate biometric registration kits (KIEMS/VIU tablets), verify the eligibility of applicants as per electoral laws and perform other duties.
Requirements:
i) Be a Kenyan citizen aged 19 years and above.
II) Hold a minimum KCSE C-.
III) Possess computer literacy and ICT skills; A diploma in ICT, statistics, education, business administration, or related field will be an added advantage. Read more
Wage: Registration Clerks based at Huduma Centres will be paid Kshs. 1,500 per day

2. Presiding and deputy presiding officers
Role: The presiding officer will be in overall charge at the polling station, while the deputy will assist him or her.
Requirements:
I) A Kenyan citizen of high integrity and non-partisan.
ii) Hold a degree or a diploma certificate from a recognised institution. Be computer literate.
III) Have effective communication. Good report writing skills. Read more

Presiding Officers will be paid Kshs. 2000 per day; and
Deputy Presiding Officers will be paid Kshs. 1,800 per day

3. Ward-based voter educators
Role: The jobholders will distribute and disseminate the voter education material in schools, churches/mosques, health centres, markets, community centres, farms and business centres. They will also conduct voter education in the wards. Read more

—County Voter Educators will be paid Kshs. 2500/= per day
—Constituency Voter Educators will be paid Kshs.2000/= per day
—Ward based Voter Educators will be paid Kshs.1500/- per day

4. Polling county clerks
Role: They will be tasked with laying out the polling stations and counting rooms.
Requirements:
I) Candidates should be Kenyan citizens of high integrity and non-partisan.
ii) KCSE C- and above.

Role: The ICT clerks will provide high-quality first-level ICT support services to the returning officers at the tallying centres.
