IEBC Announces Temporary 3 Clerical job Positions | How To Apply | Deadline.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has unveiled 12,520 temporary vacancies to support a 30-day Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration exercise at the ward level.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, February 25, the commission invited qualified Kenyans to apply for positions as Voter Registration Assistants, Voter Registration Clerks, and ICT Clerks. The recruitment drive is aimed at strengthening the national voter register ahead of upcoming electoral processes.
Successful applicants will earn approximately KSh 2,000 per day throughout the assignment.
The opportunities are open to Kenyan citizens aged 19 years and above who have attained a minimum of a KCSE grade of C- (minus) or its equivalent. Applicants must submit their applications through the official IEBC online portal. Basic computer literacy and ICT skills are mandatory, while a diploma in ICT, statistics, education, business administration, or a related field will be an added advantage for certain roles.
1. ICT Clerk
ICT Clerks will be tasked with operating and troubleshooting biometric voter registration equipment, including KIEMS kits and associated hardware and software systems.

- Set up, configure, and operate KIEMS kits and related ICT equipment for voter registration.
- Provide first-level technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software and connectivity issues.
- Support secure transmission, synchronization, and backup of voter registration data.
- Ensure proper custody, accountability, and maintenance of ICT equipment.
- Maintain ICT logs, incident reports, and equipment handover records.
- Assist in training and supporting voter registration officials on basic ICT operations.
- Uphold data security, confidentiality, and system integrity in line with IEBC policies.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- Certificate or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware, software applications and networking.
- Ability to troubleshoot common ICT issues under pressure.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated integrity, neutrality and confidentiality.
- Must be a Kenyan citizen and a registered voter.
- Availability to work long hours, including weekends and public holidays.
The Voter Registration Clerks will mainly handle direct interaction with members of the public seeking to register as voters.
Duties and Responsibilities

-Guide applicants on voter registration requirements and procedures.
-Assist applicants in filling registration forms accurately.
-Ensure safe custody of registration equipment, materials and Data.
-Report and transmit voter registration data daily to Registration Officers.
-Uphold IEBC’s code of conduct, data protection, and confidentiality.
-Respond to voter inquiries and support voter verification and inspection exercises.
-Provide courteous and inclusive service to all, including persons with disabilities and vulnerable groups.
– Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

3. Voter Registration Assistant
The Voter Registration Assistant (VRA) is primarily responsible for supervising Voter Registration Clerks, ensuring the security of biometric equipment (BVR kits/KIEMS tablets), and ensuring that registration targets are met within the assigned ward.

- Supervising Voter registration clerks at the ward
- Assisting in planning the KIEMs kit movement schedule
- Collating and submitting voter registration data
- Ensuring the security of materials and equipment
- Reporting Voter registration progress
- Publicizing registration activities and ensuring the ward meets registration targets
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- Must be a Kenyan citizen and a registered voter.
- At least 21 years old, and residents of the constituency/ward they are applying for.
- A minimum of a Diploma in ICT or a related field is required.
- Availability for the entire registration period.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and Kiswahili; knowledge of local languages is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated integrity, impartiality, and respect for diversity.
- Willingness to work long hours and under field conditions.
Voter Registration Assistants will oversee clerks at the ward level, coordinate deployment and movement of registration kits, compile registration data, monitor daily progress, and ensure assigned wards meet their registration targets within the stipulated timeframe.
Voter registration clerks will primarily handle direct engagement with members of the public seeking voter registration services.
Shortlisted candidates will be required to present copies of their National Identification Cards, academic certificates, and other relevant documents. Those successfully recruited will undergo mandatory training and take an oath of secrecy before deployment.
