Renowned comedian-turned-activist Eric Omondi has fulfilled his promise to build a classroom for children in Kapoo village, Turkana County who previously studied under the scorching sun without basic facilities.
Through his community initiative, Team Sisi Kwa Sisi, Omondi successfully mobilized resources to construct a well-equipped classroom, providing a conducive learning environment for the students.
In a touching gesture of gratitude, Omondi renamed the school after the volunteer teacher, Elizabeth Kamaret, who had dedicated her time and energy to teaching the children despite the harsh conditions. The move has been praised as a symbol of hope and a celebration of Kamaret’s unwavering commitment to education in Turkana.
In a video shared on his social media platforms, Omondi is seen distributing uniforms, books, and shoes to the schoolchildren while interacting with the volunteer teacher, Elizabeth Kamaret, who has been selflessly teaching the children.
Omondi also announced the classroom would be named Teacher Kamaret School in honor of her dedication and sacrifice.
Omondi’s Statement
“TEAM SISI KWA SISI!!! WE HAVE DONE IT AGAIN!!! May GOD Himself richly bless anyone and everyone who contributes. We birthed a new school, built a classroom in one day, and provided uniforms, books, and shoes for these little angels. We named the school Teacher Kamaret after the AMAZING, selfless teacher who volunteered herself to teach these children.”
” We managed to give her a stipend to sustain her for at least two months. A lot still needs to be done because more than half of the children still don’t have uniforms, and the classroom is not 100 percent complete. By the end of this year, we will have a complete school here with boarding facilities. GOD BLESS YOU!” he said.
Ongoing Needs
While this milestone marks significant progress, Omondi highlighted the challenges that remain, including completing the classroom and ensuring all children receive uniforms. He appealed to Kenyans and well-wishers to continue contributing to support this noble cause.
