The Employment and Labour Relations Court has suspended the planned police recruitment exercise that was set to begin on October 3, 2025.

The decision follows a petition filed by former Member of Parliament Harun Mwau challenging the process. In its ruling delivered on October 2, 2025, the court ordered that the exercise be put on hold until the petition is heard and determined.

The National Police Service (NPS) and the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) have confirmed the postponement, stating that they are working closely with relevant authorities to seek appropriate legal remedies that would allow the recruitment to resume.

This development means thousands of prospective candidates who had prepared to participate in the exercise will now have to wait for further communication on the way forward.
