Oburu: I’ll Be ODM Presidential Candidate If Party Goes Alone in 2027

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader Oburu Oginga has declared that he will be the party’s presidential candidate if ODM chooses to contest the 2027 General Election independently.

Oginga said the ODM constitution is explicit that the party leader automatically becomes the presidential flag bearer should the party opt to go it alone, leaving no room for internal competition.

“The presidential candidate is clearly provided for in the ODM constitution, and that candidate is the party leader,” Oginga said, emphasizing that the party’s rules are unambiguous on the matter.

He further warned against early presidential ambitions within the party.

“I am the ODM presidential candidate if the party decides to go it alone. Anyone preparing to contest the presidency within ODM is misplaced. If they want to run for the presidency, they should seek another party.” he said

His remarks come in light of a political pact between the William Ruto administration and the ODM Party under a broad-based framework.
