Turkana Senatorial Aspirant Condemns Leaders Over Public Violence

Turkana Senatorial aspirant Wakili Ekusi Lore Sudais has condemned acts of physical confrontation among leaders, terming it a disgrace to public leadership and a violation of the values enshrined in the Constitution.
In a strongly worded statement, Sudais said it is shameful for leaders to resort to physical violence in public as a way of resolving differences, noting that such conduct portrays a lack of tolerance and self-control — key virtues expected of public servants.
“The greatest disgrace to leadership is when leaders resort to physical violence in public to resolve differences. This demonstrates a lack of tolerance and self-control, which are essential traits in leadership,” he stated.
Sudais further reminded public officers that violence, including affray (fighting in public), amounts to gross misconduct under the law. He cited Article 104 of the Constitution of Kenya (2010), which provides for the recall of a Member of Parliament, and Article 181, which allows for the impeachment of a Governor on grounds of gross misconduct.
He urged leaders in Turkana County to uphold dignity, decency, and respect for public office, emphasizing that residents deserve role models who embody integrity and discipline.
“The residents of Turkana County deserve the highest sense of decency from those holding public offices on their behalf,” he added.
The remarks come amid growing public concern over recent incidents of confrontation involving political leaders in the region.
