In 2014, a company secured a tender to grade and partially gravel the road connecting Lodwar-Kanamkemer to Napeikar–a project championed by the then–MCA, now the sitting Governor.

The road quickly transformed the region, stimulating local commerce, especially in Napeikar, where sand harvesting became more accessible. But success drew attention.

Recognizing the road’s impact, the then-Loima MP–locked in a political rivalry with the MCA–secretly lobbied the EACC to investigate the project, aiming to derail its progress.

Six months later, the company was implicated in a corruption probe. The anti-graft agency conducted a rigorous investigation. Their final report was clear: the road was excellently executed, with no evidence of misused funds or misconduct. They were exonerated.

What began as a development initiative became a casualty of political feuds. It’s a reality many entrepreneurs face-caught in the crossfire of power struggles.

The latest EACC list of alleged fund misappropriators in Turkana County reveals a harsh truth: not every accusation is rooted in fact. Sometimes, it’s just politics in play. Before passing judgment, always allow investigations to speak first.
