Former Prime Minister and ODM leader Raila Odinga has reiterated his support for the political partnership with President William Ruto, insisting the move was necessary to safeguard the country’s stability.
Addressing a joint Parliamentary Group meeting of UDA, ODM legislators, and other allied parties in Karen on Monday, August 18, 2025, Raila argued that Kenya was staring at possible disintegration in 2024, forcing leaders to put aside rivalry for the nation’s survival.
“In 2024, we saw a dark cloud gather over our country—one that could have marked the end of Kenya as we know it,” Raila said. “We resolved that it is better to live with an imperfect, struggling nation than to witness its total collapse.”
