Babu Owino Tops Infotrak Poll as Perceived Successor to Raila Odinga

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has emerged as the leading perceived successor to Raila Odinga, according to a new Infotrak poll.
The survey shows Owino commanding 33 per cent support among respondents, placing him well ahead of other potential successors. He is followed by Oburu Odinga at 10 per cent, Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga with 7 per cent, and Siaya Governor James Orengo at 4 per cent. Winnie Odinga received 1 per cent support.
Notably, the poll indicates significant uncertainty within the electorate, with 37 per cent of respondents saying they were undecided on who should take up Raila Odinga’s political mantle.
The findings highlight Owino’s growing national profile, particularly among younger voters, and underscore ongoing debates within the opposition on leadership succession. Analysts say the large undecided vote suggests the race remains open and could shift as political realignments take shape ahead of future elections.
The Infotrak poll offers an early snapshot of public opinion at a time when conversations around opposition leadership and generational transition continue to gain momentum across the country.
